State Farm: No new South Florida homeowners insurance!
According to a recent article by Beatrice Garcia of the Miami Herald, State Farm Florida has decided against writing any new Florida homeowners insurance business. The article published on 2/24/2008: “State Farm Florida: No new homeowners policies” provides the highlights of State Farm’s recent decision to stop writing new homeowners insurance in Florida.
While State Farm Florida hasn’t been writing any significant quantities of new Florida homeowners insurance in South Florida in recent years, when combined with the company’s current plan to cancel an estimated 50,000 Florida homeowner insurance policies, it is not good news for South Florida homeowners.
Availability of South Florida homeowners insurance in 2008 will continue to be a problem as the State Farm Florida home insurance cancellations are only part of the 150,000 policies that will be cancelled or non-renewed during 2008 across the State of Florida. Allstate Floridian Indemnity and Nationwide Insurance Company of Florida are also piling on in 2008 with their own rounds of Florida homeowner insurance non-renewals and cancellations.
